Submissions for the 2026 SARA NY Design Awards are now open and have been extended to April 10th, 2026. SARA NY Design Awards offer awards of Merit, Honor, and Excellence for Professionals and Students. Submission is open globally. This year SARA NY will be offering a student scholarship of $5000 to an outstanding student project. This year’s design awards will be held on June 4th, 2026 at the iconic New Yorker Hotel. March SARA NY Social at Vermont Quarries
SARA NY & Vermont Quarries invite SARA NY members to attend our SARA NY Social on Thursday, April 16th, 2026. Join our ongoing SARA Social events; smaller recurring networking events. This is an opportunity to network with fellow SARA members on a regular basis and continue the work of "Architect Helping Architect" between our larger events. Vermont Quarries, with a marble factory that is perhaps the largest of its kind in North America being fed by the largest underground marble quarry in the world, this unique combination makes Vermont Quarries Corp a truly one of a kind white marble supplier that is unparalleled. Meet the Jury Event at Vitra
On April 21st, 2026, meet the Jury of the 2026 SARA NY Design Awards to gain insight into what these jurors observed in adjudicating the submissions for the 2026 SARA NY Design Awards and learn more about their outstanding personal experience working in the field of architecture. This event will be hosted by Vitra at their showroom located at 46 Bowery, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10013 from 5:30-8:00pm. This discussion will be moderated by SARA NY Council President, Tzara Peterson. Please RSVP to this event no later than April 18th, 2026.
SARA NY’s Student Design & Build Competition
On April 7th, 2026 SARA NY & Brickworks Design Studio invited students of architecture and design to attend and participate in our annual Design & Build Competition. Students were split into groups to build bridges that were tested by adding hanging weights made of Brickworks Bricks. Students came together for an evening of collaboration and ingenuity. The evening was focused on practicing networking skills and connecting with industry professionals. The SARA NY Board’s Emerging SARA Committee would like to thank everyone who attended. Thank you to Amy Morris of Brickworks Design Studio and Judy Hasegawa of the SARA National Affiliate Board for organizing. SARA ART Opening Reception & Panel Discussion on Art & Architecture in Landscape
On October 8th & 9th at Brickworks Design Studio in NYC, the SARA NY Council presented its annual SARA ART Exhibition. On October 9th, we held the opening reception that included a panel discussion about Art & Architecture in Landscape. Thank you to all of our artists for presenting and sharing your artworks, to all guests who attended for helping support our scholarship fund, and to our esteemed panel members for a beautiful conversation around art and architecture. Blueprint for Success: A Student Mentoring Event
SARA NY presented it’s annual Blueprint for Success event, 5:30-8:30pm on September 18th, 2025 where students of architecture and interior design came together to engage in brief mentorship opportunities with some of the top architect firms in the NYC area. Thank you to Brickworks Design Studio for hosting and sponsoring this event. Thank you to Judy Hasegawa for your amazing efforts in planning and securing raffle prizes. Thank you to our mentors who provided invaluable conversations at this event and thank you to our participating students who showed up prepared and with great curiosity.
30th SARA NY Design Awards
On June 10th, 2025 SARA NY hosted our 30th Annual Design Awards Gala at The View at the Battery in Manhattan, New York. Nearly 300 architects, contractors, and vendors convened to connect with each other to celebrate and to honor design achievements in architecture.
